A generation-by-generation guide to the Redmi Note series, from the original 2014 model to the Note 17: lineups, launch prices and who each phone is for.

The Redmi Note line is one of Xiaomi’s best-known phone families. It started in 2014 and has now reached the Note 17. This guide walks through every generation from the newest to the oldest: what was in each lineup, what it cost at launch, and whether it’s worth thinking about today.

Last updated: November 3, 2026.

One number is missing: there is no Redmi Note 16

Xiaomi went from the Note 15 straight to the Note 17. Beebom reports that the company skipped the Note 16 name to line up with the Xiaomi 17 series. Gizchina also notes that leaked posters jump from 15 to 17.

Names change by region

A Redmi Note phone doesn’t always have the same name everywhere:

  • The Note 15 Pro+ was rebranded as the POCO M8 Pro in some markets, as we explained in our FCC certification report.
  • In Europe, the Note 10 Pro was a rebranded Indian Note 10 Pro Max, according to Notebookcheck.
  • The Note 9S was the international version of the Note 9 Pro, and the Note 9T was the global version of the China-market Note 9 5G.
  • Some China models never leave China, like the Note 12 Pro+ Discovery Edition, and specs can differ: leaks say the global Note 17 5G has a 108MP camera while China has 50MP.
  • Prices also differ by market, which is why the table above uses each generation’s first launch market, converted to US dollars. If you are buying a phone imported from another region, read our guide to spotting a grey-market Xiaomi phone.

Generation by generation, newest to oldest

Redmi Note 17 series (2026)

  • Launch and variants: Launched in China in July 2026 with two phones, the Note 17 and Note 17 Pro. Leaks and retailer listings point to 4G, 5G and Pro Max versions for Europe, but the Pro Max had not officially launched when we checked.
  • Base to top: The Note 17 has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, an 8,000mAh battery and 45W charging. The Pro moves to a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 9,000mAh, 67W charging and a 6.83-inch 144Hz AMOLED screen.
  • Best thing: The batteries. 8,000 and 9,000mAh are far beyond anything earlier in this list, and the Pro also lists IP68 and IP69 water resistance.
  • Weak point: Entry-level chips for the money, and leaked European prices of about $580–$700 (€500–€600) for the Pro versions could look steep if the Chinese specs carry over.
  • Who it’s for: Buyers who put battery life first. Wait for official global prices before committing.

Redmi Note 15 series (2025)

  • Launch and variants: Announced in China in August 2025 and rolled out globally from December 2025 and in Europe in January 2026. Europe gets five versions: Note 15 4G, Note 15 5G, Note 15 Pro 4G, Note 15 Pro 5G and Note 15 Pro+.
  • Base to top: From the Note 15 4G (Helio G100 Ultra, 6,000mAh) up to the Pro+ (Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, 6,500mAh globally). In China the Pro and Pro+ have 7,000mAh batteries, with 45W and 90W charging.
  • Best thing: Big batteries across the range, plus a 5G Pro tier that starts at around $480 (€410) in Europe.
  • Weak point: The global Pro and Pro+ batteries are smaller than the Chinese 7,000mAh versions, and the mix of 4G and 5G models with different chips is confusing.
  • Who it’s for: The current safe mid-range pick if you want a phone that is easy to buy in Europe now.

Redmi Note 14 series (2024)

  • Launch and variants: Launched in China in September 2024. A pre-launch leak listed five European versions: Note 14 4G and 5G, Note 14 Pro 4G and 5G, and Note 14 Pro+.
  • Base to top: In China the Pro uses a Dimensity 7300-Ultra with a 5,500mAh battery and 45W charging. The Pro+ has a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 6,200mAh and 90W charging.
  • Best thing: Both Chinese Pro models are rated IP68.
  • Weak point: The Pro’s 45W charging is much slower than the Pro+’s 90W, and the cheaper 4G models are a different class of phone from the Pro versions.
  • Who it’s for: Still a good value if you find the Pro 5G discounted. For a full verdict, see our review.

Redmi Note 13 series (2023)

  • Base to top: The Note 13 5G uses a Dimensity 6080 with a 100MP camera and 33W charging. The Pro and Pro+ share a 200MP camera. The Pro+ adds a Dimensity 7200, 120W charging and IP68.
  • Best thing: A 200MP camera and 120W charging on the Pro+.
  • Weak point: The Note 13 5G has a dimmer display (1,000-nit peak) than the Pro models.
  • Who it’s for: Budget buyers who find a Pro or Pro+ at a deep discount. HyperOS update support is worth checking first.

Redmi Note 12 series (2022)

  • Launch and variants: Launched in China in October 2022 with four phones, then reached Europe in March 2023. The Pro+ Discovery Edition and Pro Speed did not go to Europe.

  • Best thing: The 210W Discovery Edition, which Xiaomi claimed charged from 0 to 100% in about 9 minutes.
  • Weak point: That record-breaking model was China only and had a smaller battery. The base Note 12 has just IP53.
  • Who it’s for: Only worth it today as a cheap second-hand or backup phone.

Redmi Note 11 series (2022)

  • Launch and variants: Announced globally in January 2022 with four phones: Note 11, Note 11S, Note 11 Pro 4G and Note 11 Pro 5G.
  • Base to top: The Note 11 has a Snapdragon 680 and 33W charging. The Pro 5G has a Snapdragon 695 and 67W charging. All use a 5,000mAh battery.
  • Best thing: 67W charging on the Pro models.
  • Weak point: The base Note 11 uses an entry-level chip, and the Pro 4G and Note 11S share the same Helio G96 chip.
  • Who it’s for: A budget second phone at best. Android and security support is the question mark.

Redmi Note 10 series (2021)

  • Launch and variants: Launched in India in March 2021 with the Note 10, Note 10 Pro and Note 10 Pro Max. Europe got the Note 10, Note 10S, Note 10 5G and Note 10 Pro.
  • Base to top: The Note 10 has a Snapdragon 678 and a 48MP camera. The Pro Max uses a Snapdragon 732G and a 108MP camera. All have a 5,000mAh-class battery and 33W charging.
  • Best thing: The Pro Max brought a 108MP camera and a 120Hz AMOLED screen to a mid-range price.
  • Weak point: Naming. According to Notebookcheck, the European Note 10 Pro is a rebranded Indian Note 10 Pro Max.
  • Who it’s for: Collectors and tinkerers. For daily use, newer phones are safer.

Redmi Note 9 series (2020)

  • Launch and variants: The Note 9 Pro and Pro Max launched in India in March 2020. The Note 9S followed in Europe as the international Note 9 Pro, and the Note 9T arrived in January 2021.
  • Base to top: Both Pro phones share a Snapdragon 720G, a 5,020mAh battery and a 6.67-inch screen. The Pro Max has a 64MP main camera versus 48MP, and up to 8GB RAM.
  • Best thing: Snapdragon 720G and a 5,020mAh battery were a strong combination at around $175.
  • Weak point: A 60Hz IPS screen.
  • Who it’s for: Not recommended for daily use today.

Redmi Note 8 series (2019)

  • Launch and variants: Two phones launched in China in late summer 2019: the Note 8 Pro on August 29 and the Note 8 on September 10.
  • Base to top: The Note 8 has a Snapdragon 665, a 48MP camera and a 4,000mAh battery. The Pro has a Helio G90T, a 64MP camera and a 4,500mAh battery.
  • Best thing: A 64MP main camera and a Helio G90T chip on the Pro, from about $200 (CNY 1,399).
  • Weak point: The base Note 8 is a clear step down in chip and battery.
  • Who it’s for: A museum piece now.

Redmi Note 7 series (2019)

  • Launch and variants: Note 7 and Note 7 Pro launched in India on February 28, 2019, with India as the Pro’s first market.

  • Base to top: 4GB/64GB (about $195) up to 6GB/64GB (about $220), with a Snapdragon 636 and a 4,000mAh battery.
  • Best thing: Four cameras, including a dual selfie setup (20MP + 2MP).
  • Weak point: It kept the same Snapdragon 636 as the Note 5 Pro.
  • Who it’s for: Nobody should buy it for daily use now.

  • Base to top: The Note 5 has a single 12MP camera. The Pro has a Snapdragon 636, dual 12MP + 5MP cameras and a 20MP selfie camera. Both have a 4,000mAh battery.

What to buy today

If you want to buy a Redmi Note right now, the two sensible choices are the Note 15 series, which is easy to buy in Europe, and the Note 17 once global prices are official. Everything before the Note 14 is best treated as history. Whichever you choose, check how much memory you really need with our guide to RAM and storage in a Xiaomi phone.
